Young Workers Centre outreach organisers visit schools and community groups around Victoria to educate their peers about workplace rights.
Since the Centre was established in 2016, we have provided outreach to over 30,000 young people in Victoria.
Our education and outreach program is specifically designed to address the issues that young workers face when heading into the workplace for the first time, including:
YOUR RIGHTS AT WORK
This module allows students to develop their knowledge of employment relations, workplace rights and minimum standards.
SAFE AT WORK
Students who complete this module will gain a practical understanding of Occupational Health & Safety procedures and how to keep safe at work.
BULLYING & DISCRIMINATION AT WORK
This module gives students an understanding of what constitutes workplace bullying & discrimination. Students also gain practical tools for responding to these issues when they arise.
SOCIAL MOVEMENTS & CAMPAIGNS
Students who complete this module will learn about various strategies for creating change in their communities. Students will have the opportunity to design and implement their own campaign, guided by Young Workers Centre staff.
REMOTE LEARNING
We are currently able to provide the above training via online platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
We have also developed self-guided e-learning modules that reflect the topics above. As of mid July 2020 over 300 Victorian students have participated in the e-learning modules. Please email [email protected] for more information.
